The BP465 narrow bandpass filter is an advanced lens filter designed to pass light with a peak wavelength of 465 nm and a useful range between 435–495 nm, while blocking all other wavelengths.
It can be mounted on a machine vision lens using the standard filter thread.

How the BP465 Narrow Bandpass Filter Works
Narrow bandpass filters work by allowing only a specific portion of the light spectrum to pass while blocking all other wavelengths.
For the BP465 filter, light near 465 nm passes through with peak transmission above 90%, and the useful range between 435–495 nm maintains transmission above 80%.

BP465 Narrow Bandpass Filter: Technical Overview and Practical Applications
The BP465 bandpass filter is designed to transmit light centered around 465 nm while blocking unwanted wavelengths outside its passband. This precise wavelength control enhances image contrast, color accuracy, and measurement reliability for a wide variety of optical systems.
By selecting a specific wavelength (for example 465 nm), the BP465 filter effectively becomes a ‘color’ filter for the monochrome imaging: it allows only the target color (blue) to pass and suppresses its complementary and nearby wavelengths. Adding a color lens filter “works on a subtraction idea” — for instance, a blue filter makes blue shades stay bright while rendering complementary colors dark.
In practice, when you combine a white-light or other broad-spectrum source with a BP465 filter, you isolate only the precise band around 465 nm. The outcome is greater contrast, clearer object distinction, fewer stray reflections from ambient light, and enhanced image stability. This is particularly beneficial in machine-vision inspection tasks, where subtle variations in material, color, or surface texture must be consistently detected under changing lighting conditions.

BP465 Filter Lens and Camera Compatibility
The BP465 filter offers flexible installation options and can be integrated into existing imaging setups without modifying your current camera or lens.
In typical machine vision systems, it can be screwed directly onto the front of most lenses, since these lenses usually provide a standard filter thread for attaching optical filters.
When you're using a C-mount lens on a GigE camera or USB3 camera, the BP465 filter can also be positioned inside the C-mount interface rather than mounted on the lens front. This approach is especially helpful in cases where the lens has no front filter thread.
In this configuration, the filter sits securely between the camera and the lens, remaining fixed in the optical path. This stable placement helps maintain optical alignment and delivers consistent image quality.

Recently we purchased a camera with lens, and LED lights. We are not experienced with machine vision but the installation worked out fine. After installation on our laboratory we were surprised again of the high quality of the photos and the versatility of this system. (options in Galaxy viewer and integration in Python. Recently we had an issue with the software and the customer support was able to give us the relevant information to fix it within one day. The next time we need a camera we will not be looking to other suppliers but contact GeT Cameras immediately.

For a new product development there was a lot of price pressure. We needed a cheap camera. I called them and Caspar was providing great support. He even advised a cheaper camera than I had in mind. I was just surprised by the inhouse knowledge of get cameras about machine vision. Never expected this from a webshop. The image an built quality of the camera is also great. The camera feels and operates the same as our Basler cameras.

In the beginning I was sceptic because of the low prices, but support by email was great. They advise a lens and provided additional technical information. Unfortunately they don't offer a loan service, but I decided to try it. I had the cameras in house within 2 weeks and connection was easy. The SDK looks like the SDK from Basler so I felt directly comfortable with it. The camera and lens was a perfect match and now I'm able to read small DMC codes on large products with just a single camera.
